Hybrid 3 and Xpand!2 not loaded by brainspawn forte 1.6 32bit

OS Windows 7 32bit. I recently bought Hybrid 3, but the VST is not recognised by Brainspawn forte 1.6 (yeah I know, it's quite old but works fine with all other VSTs), it stated it is not a regular VST (?).Please note the same happens with Xpand!2 I installed few months ago (it came bundled with my latest keyboard, an M-Audio Keystation 88).So it seems AIR VSTs are incompatible with Forte 1.6... What can I do to have it loaded my new Hybrid 3 DLL?

  • Hi Alex,

    Thanks for posting.

Xpand!2 can be used in virtually any DAW. If your DAW is giving you a message saying that it isn't a regular VST like you're saying, this may be a setup or configuration issue with that software, which means that you may need to get in touch with them for assistance with setting that up, as I'm not familiar with that DAW.

Where do you have your plugins stored on your computer? If you navigate through your computer's files do you see the preset files and .DLL files? You will need to tell your DAW where these are stored, which is usually done in the preferences.

  • Hi thanks for your reply.
I understand your point, but both VSTs have been correctly installed and are in the regular folder (otherwise the DAW wouldnt even "see" them). Moreover, Xpand and Hybrid are the only VST not recognised by the software, so you can understand I'm in a deadlock if you say to ask DAW support because your VSTs are regular DLLs working with "virtually" any DAW, and DAW says to ask VST support...
Btw, I understand it could be a kind of technical issue, but if the only VST not recognised as valid VSTs by Forte are both the one from Air, I suppose something "different" could be on your DLL features and/or compilation. On my DAW I can explicitly specify the folders containig the plugins if installed in different places than the default ones (eg program files\Steinberg\VSTpluugins) but its not enough, and I don't know why and especially what can I do to let it correctly load. Could be a RAM issue? What is the minimum free RAM required?

  • Can you please upload a screenshot of the error message you receive when trying to scan these in Forte?

  • Hi Bill,
Forte doesn't show a specific error message, but the VSTs aren't listed on"Add" instrument list, and going to Plugins settings menu, it shows their DLLs listed in a bad/unrecognised VSTs.
I'm quite frustrated, as I'd like to use your VSTs (Xpand came bundled with my latest USB M-Audio keyboard, and I bought Hybrid3 after some demo stunning videos...). Now I'll uninstall and reinstall Hybrid, and have a deeper look at inside Forte settings and/or log file (if it produces them...), and even give it a try with another DAW (but I can't permanently switch to it, because I already have all my songs settings under Forte, it's quite hard work to replicate them on another, completely different DAW...).
But please help me, what else can I do?

  • OK, since this issue seems to be specific to the Forte software and I'm not familiar with this (as it isn't a common DAW) I would recommend contacting the software publisher directly for further assistance with this matter.
